A huge thank you to all the many volunteers who put up and
took down flags at the Unadilla Cemetery. The honor and respect
you display is so heartwarming. And we appreciate that some of
you are including the next generation in your service.
Get out your Yo-Yo and celebrate
Nation Y0-Yo Day on June 6th
The Unadilla Alumni celebrated "Happy 150 Years Nebraska" at
the Duncan Building on Saturday, May 27th with 40 in attendance.
Ralph Ross led the Flag Salute and Mary Margaret Clark led the
Doxology. Fried chicken was furnished and many salads, main
dishes and desserts were brought in by attendees and enjoyed by
all. Honored classes were from 1942, 1947, 1952, and 1957. Rose
Marie Brandt represented the 75 year class of 1942, Leota Lemka
Krivacopich was here from California to celebrate her 70 year class,
1947. Sylvia Beccard Snoke of Eagle was here from the class of
1952 and Ralph Ross, Syracuse, and Peggy Leefers were 60 year
classmates.
Other alumni recognized were Roland Rodaway, class of 1938,
Birdean West and Glen Wyatt, class of 1941, Jack Stilwell, class
of 1943, Lois Ebert, class of 1944, and Bob Fey, class of 1945.
Arvilla Noerlinger, class of 1945, could not attend but called and
told about a surprise birthday trip to New York City.
The committe for this year was Joyce & Frank Schulze, class of
1956, Ralph & Jane Ross and Peggy Leefers, class of 1957,
and Marilyn & Jim Schreiner, Omaha, and Robert & Judy Callaway,
Lincoln, class of 1958.
Jean Lucas, secretary and treasurer, reported on the finances
and gave an account of last years dinner. Each attendee stood
and told about themselves, family, hobbies, special interests, and
everyone learned a little about our long time friends.
A question and answer sheet about Nebraska was a learning
experience and everyone did pretty good. A word scramble of
Nebraska towns and one of word associations for Nebraska
towns was fun for all. Lots of prize bags were awarded along
with several store gift cards. Countryside Bank furnished table
favors for each person.
The dinner will be the same time, same place next year and
notices will be sent out as usual. Peggy Leefers closed the
evening with an Irish Prayer.
A huge thank you to Peggy Leefers for sharing this story!
