Ron & Lois Johnson, Gordon Hopp, Bob & Barb Wilhelm, Curt Kimbell, Elmer Boettcher, and Keith Kimbell, were among the 57 members/spouses attending the 90th American Legion Birthday Party, March 10, at the Syracuse Country Club. Corned beef and cabbage was served by the Legion; cake was provided by the Auxiliary. Entertainment was provided by Kathy Juilfs and friends. Various members of the Legion and Auxiliary were honored for their many years of membership and work. Bob Wilhelm was recognized for 30 years and Elmer Boettcher for 65 years. Jackie O'Neill and Burdette Burkhart, both State Officers, each gave a very interesting presentation.

On Saturday, March 14, American Legion Post 100 and their Auxiliary hosted the Nebraska District 12 Convention at the High School. Kermit Reisdorph, District Commander led the General Assembly at 9:00 a.m. Over 200 Legion and Auxiliary members who had passed in the last year were honored in a memorial service. Erin Poe, music instructor, and the vocal group "Encore" entertained the members. Many matters pertaining to servicemen and women were discussed before the auction started at 10:30 a.m. Proceeds went to various charities.
A wonderful meal was cooked and served by the FFA group under the supervision of Mr. Arkfield. The banquet room was decorated appropriately in red, white, and blue. Even the dessert was patriotic.
After lunch, the group separated into Legion and Auxiliary caucuses. Reports were given by county, as well as different Department Officers. The Chaplain held a Gold Star Service followed by awards for best publicty book, best history book, and best poppy centerpiece. Unit 100 faired very well, with our publicity book ranked third, history book second, and centerpiece first. Our Unit was also recognized for having three first time attendees: Lois Johnson, Claretta Royal, and Barb Wilhelm.
Election of officers followed. Jenice Bates was elected District 12 Vice-President. Donna Gana swore in each new officer and presented them with red carnations. After resolutions were approved and announcements made, the Spring Convention adjourned at 3:30 p.m. The Department Convention will be June 26-28 at Columbus.

Keith & Sandi Kimbell went to Omaha Sunday to see Sam T.
