3-31    Community Library open 5-6 p.m.
4-1    United Methodist Women meeting

Get well wishes to Milan Brehm who had surgery Saturday morning after getting into a tussle with a power take-off. We hope this is not turning into a family tradition. Randy had a similar accident about 8 months ago and walked away with no broken bones. Hope you're home soon Milan.

Tom & Jo Lewis are grandparents again! Jenny & Mike welcomed Ryder Lee Smith on 3-17. He weighed in at 12 pounds 8 ounces. Both Mom and Ryder are doing fine at home now and Brookie loves her new brother.

The Village Safety Committee met at the Village Office on 3-18. The subject was "Slips and Falls". Items included "Understanding Your Balance", "Most Common Causes of Falls", and a "Fall Prevention Checklist". Perhaps the best advice was "to encourage employees to walk, NOT RUN!!!"

Christian Church Circle met at the church on 3-19 at 7:00 p.m. with 9 members present. Roll call was answered by suggesting a fun activity and there were some interesting ones. Berdean West requested funds for purchasing cards that are sent to church members for all occasions. Instead of collecting labels, it was decided to bring food items for the local Food Pantries on the first Sunday of the month. Everyone was reminded to bring their Blessing Boxes next month. Spring Fling will be held at the church on April 4th. It is a District meeting of women of the Christian Church. Unadilla will provide the lunch, with Mary Margaret Clark and Patty Draeger chairing this event.

Easter service will be April 12th at 7:00 a.m. Breakfast will be served afterwards - bring one of your favorite dishes!

The traveling basket was brought by Jean Lucas and won by Brenda DeGolyer. Next meeting will be 4-9 at the home of Jeanie Steinkuhler. Mary Margaret gave devotions, meeting was adjourned, and Jean served a delicious lunch.

Yes, it's official: I'm now older than dirt! About 85 people surprised me Saturday night to celebrate my upcoming 60th birthday. And was I surprised! Don't know how they kept the secret so well, but thanks to Mary, Jenn, Michele, and Bob - I had a terrific time! Am I gloomy about turning 60? Well, as K.C. Stoner used to say, "Any day above ground is a good one!"

The annual Water Quality Report for the Village of Unadilla is now available at the Village Office and a copy has been posted in the Office window.

Happy Birthday to Marie Stubbendeck and Michael West on 3-26; Joel Conradi and Kim Juilfs on 3-27; Maisie Hillman on 3-29; Arlin Rohlfs on 3-32; Vern Wilhelm on 4-1; and Holly Vogt, Maureen Vogt, and Susie Wyatt on 4-2.

Friday, 3-26-1909, The Otoe Union: The Bank of Unadilla's new slogan was "The best prophet of the future is the past." The children of Thomas Rodaway all had "scarletina" and family was under quarantine. Orchard Hill School (Dist #102) was closed because most of the children had whooping cough. Parents were encouraged to visit school before the term was over. The roof was being put on the Hopewell parsonage. Mr. & Mrs. Ira Pratt celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. At the time, they had 10 children and 21 grandchildren.
