Stack of_books

Your Unadilla Community Library has acquired the book “Dust Bowl Descent” by Bill Ganzel.  Mr. Ganzel was the speaker at this year’s Groundhog Day Celebration and has graciously autographed our copy of his book.  In 1974 Mr. Ganzel went on the road to photograph the aftermath of the Dust Bowl and to interview its survivors 40 years after the Great Depression.  Matching Farm Security Administration pictures taken during the depression with photos he made along with interviews of people who lived through the depression, the book brings alive a time and a place not that long ago.  It is a vivid reflection of the past and present of America.

If you saw Mr. Ganzel’s presentation at Groundhog Day, you will want to read and view this book for a more in depth understanding.  If you missed his talk, the book is a great visual record of life in the Great Plains, both during the great depression and now.  Stop in to the Library and check it out.

Our April 2nd Paint Class is full – and promises to be a great time. We have set the next class for Tuesday evening, May 10th, at 7:00 p.m.  More information to come.

Greenblatt & Seay's Schoolhouse Performance Series features a concert of Wedding Music on Sunday, April 10, at 2:30 PM, in the Old Avoca, Nebraska Schoolhouse.  This is a great opportunity for folks who are planning a wedding to experience some of the most requested wedding tunes, including Pachelbel's "Canon", and Mendelssohn's "Wedding March", as well as selections that are perfect before and after the ceremony.

Besides Classical and Renaissance styles, Debby and David also play music from many cultures, i.e., Irish, Jewish, Swedish, etc.  The happily married couple use a variety of instruments, including hammered dulcimer, violin, nyckelharpa, guitar, harmonica, etc.

Greenblatt & Seay have been playing and singing together since the night they met, decades ago. The concert will be downstairs, followed by light refreshments, and a chance to chat and jam with the performers.

Avoca is in southern Cass County, Nebraska, on the 13 C Spur,  one mile south of Highway 34.

Admission is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for students and senior citizens, and $1.00 for children. Seating is limited. For more information, write to  Greenblatt & Seay, The Old Schoolhouse, P.O.
