Thank you to these volunteers who cleaned up the cemetery

last Saturday and worked on gravesites and trimmed trees:

Keith, Sandy, & Craig Kimbell, Dean Luff, Dean Speth,

Galen Crawford, and Bob Wilhelm.

Otoe County Relay for Life is scheduled for June 4 in

Nebraska City from 6 - 12 p.m., at the High School track.

They are having a canned food drive and there is a container

at Countryside Bank for donations. The cans will be used to

hold down the luminaries that night and all food will be donated

to Otoe County Food Banks. We have all been touched by

cancer in one way or another, and if you're not a walker, this

is a great way to help! The event will be held in Syracuse

in 2017 & 2018.

Condolences to the family of Ron Isaacs who passed away at

home on Sunday, April 10. He will be laid to rest in the Unadilla

Cemetery next to his wife, Maryanna.

Painting class_2_500

The April 2 painting class was a huge success. Instructor Sharon

Demaree led the 12 participants through the creation of a beautiful

picture. Each one was a unique expression of the painter. The next

class was to be May 10th, but that has now been cancelled. Please

was this newsletter for the new date and time.

Bob Brandt is looking for volunteers to work in the Community

Garden. Have you got 1-2 hours a week to spare?

Village Maintenance would like to remind everyone that the

only things accepted at the burn pile are trees, branches,

and unfinished lumber. No leaves or garbage please. That

could make us lose our permit with the state and then there

would no longer be a burn pile.

There was a nice turn out  for the Rescue Squad Soup

Luncheon on 4-3. The Squad would like to thank everyone

who participated. (Additional new members are: Lisa Schmitt

and Cody Sims.)

Greenblatt & Seay's Schoolhouse Performance Series features a concert of Wedding Music on Sunday, April 10, at 2:30 PM, in the Old Avoca, Nebraska Schoolhouse.  This is a great opportunity for folks who are planning a wedding to experience some of the most requested wedding tunes, including Pachelbel's "Canon", and Mendelssohn's "Wedding March", as well as selections that are perfect before and after the ceremony.

Besides Classical and Renaissance styles, Debby and David also play music from many cultures, i.e., Irish, Jewish, Swedish, etc.  The happily married couple use a variety of instruments, including hammered dulcimer, violin, nyckelharpa, guitar, harmonica, etc.

Greenblatt & Seay have been playing and singing together since the night they met, decades ago. The concert will be downstairs, followed by light refreshments, and a chance to chat and jam with the performers.

Avoca is in southern Cass County, Nebraska, on the 13 C Spur,  one mile south of Highway 34.

Admission is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for students and senior citizens, and $1.00 for children. Seating is limited. For more information, write to  Greenblatt & Seay, The Old Schoolhouse, P.O.
