Mothers Day

May 8, 1950, was the flood that practically destroyed old

highway #2 and washed a bus off the road and into the Nemaha,

just east of Unadilla. It was probably the main reason for the change

in the course of the highway, as many people lost their lives, homes,

and source of income.

and clicking on "History". Scroll down to the 1950 Flood photos

taken by Allen Hesson. If you'd like to see more, there's a nice

display on the east wall of the History Room.

Congratulations to the seniors from Unadilla who will graduate

this Saturday: Seth Bayliss, Tristan Lindsey, Chloe Moore, Cody

Pester, Emily Wellsandt, and Blake Zoller. Chloe Moore is the

recipient of the Larry Stoner Family scholarship in the amount

of $500. Can you believe there's only 2 weeks of school left?

If you haven't done it already, please mark your calendars for the

Unadilla Alumni Dinner and the SDA Alumni Banquet, both on

Memorial Day weekend. The Unadilla Library will again host

a luncheon on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29th. The History

and Veterans Rooms will also be open that day. You never

know who you might run into!

Multi-instrumentalists, Greenblatt & Seay, will be sharing their original tunes and stories on Sunday, May 14, at 2:30 PM, in the Old Avoca, Nebraska Schoolhouse. This concert celebrates over 30 years of musical experiences inspired by their children, their students, and their Schoolhouse home/studio/sanctuary.  Light-hearted vocals will blend with the supportive textures of fiddle, harmonica, guitar, nyckelharpa, mandolin, etc.

Greenblatt & Seay have been playing beautiful music together since the night they met.  Both are now Master Artists with the Nebraska Arts Council's Artist-in-the-Schools program, and participate in Humanities Nebraska's Speakers Bureau.

The concert will be downstairs, and  followed by light refreshments, and a chance to chat and even jam with Greenblatt & Seay.

Avoca is in southern Cass County, Nebraska, on the 13 C Spur,  one mile south of Highway 34.

Admission is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for students and senior citizens, and $1.00 for children. Seating is limited. For more information, write to  Greenblatt & Seay, The Old Schoolhouse, P.O.
