At the Library, 7:30 p.m.
Total Eclipse – August 21, 2017
Be sure to watch safely! The library has ordered glasses that filter
out 100% of harmful ultra-violet and infrared rays and 99.999% of
intense visible light. These premium eclipse filters create the
sharpest solar images with a natural orange color. They have an
optical density of 5 or greater, are ISO 12312-2 compliant
and CE certified. Safe for all phases of the eclipse. Cost: $2.
Order should arrive no later than August 16th. Stop into the library and
pick up a pair. Quantity is limited!
Did you know there were 2.28 million vehicles registered
in the state of Nebraska last year?
The Unadilla Methodist Church will hold its annual ice cream
social on Sunday, August 20, from 11 - 1. A free will donation
includes your choice of homemade ice cream, sandwiches,
desserts, and various refreshments. It's always great food!
A reminder that the burn pit facility is only for trees, tree
trimmings, or raw lumber, NO furniture, leaves, yard waste,
painted lumber, dry wall, or bags of garbage. Please dispose
of these items properly. If the state finds these items in the
burn pit, we would be in violation of our permit and the site
would be shut down. That would be a big loss to Unadilla as
well as the residents. If you're not sure, please
call the Village Office!

NEWS FROM 100 YEARS AGO
Friday, 8-10-1917, The Otoe Union:
The Draft in Otoe County was progressing. With 104
reporting for physicals, less than 52 (the county's quota)
passed. "The examining physician paid Sterling Morton
Swanson of Syracuse and Ralph Lincoln of Unadilla, a
most flattering compliment by saying they were the best
speciments of manhood he had ever examined."
Mollie (Schall) Royer, the first teacher at Pleasant
Hill School, died at Elmwood.
