What are you going to plant to celebrate Arbor Day? Thinking it
might be more of a pruning and transplanting day at the
Western Wilhelm Outpost.
This was a few years ago!

Thanks to Lynn & Jason Schomerus, Craig Kimbell, and Bob
Wilhelm for moving and setting up the new display cabinets in the
History and Veterans Rooms. Both rooms will be open on Memorial
Day.
Continued get well wishes to Jane Brandt Weber, Roland
Rodaway, Rich Lechner, Bill Davis, and Sheila Glathar.
Saturday the members of the Otoe County Genealogical Society
met in Nebraska City at the Keeping Room for lunch (what an
interesting place!). It was a short menu but the food was delicious.
Members held a short business meeting at Morton James Library
and finalized their work day in May.

Then it was on to the Civil War/GAR Hall. If you haven't been lately,
they've added new display areas with lots of new items.
Our guide, Tim Engel, was an
added bonus: so knowledgeable and helpful in finding answers to
our questions. Did you know Unadilla had a GAR post? It was
called Chickamauga and it's last surviving member, Joseph
Keach died in 1932. Keach served in the 173rd Ohio Infantry,
Co. H, and the 4th Ohio Cavalry.

Vistors can actually hold a Civil War rifle and it's amazing how
heavy it is. Starting this weekend they will be open Friday,
Saturday, and Sunday, from noon until 4, admission $3.

Saturday afternoon, Bob & Barb Wilhelm, Bev Wilhelm & Chuck
Bjork, and Dave & Nola Johnson met to celebrate Ruth Wilhelm's
97th birthday with cupcakes, cards, and fun conversation. Thanks
to those of you who remembered her with cards also.
