Unadilla Area Fund Meeting Minutes
January 12, 2016 10:00 a.m. Library
Present: Barb Wilhelm, Peggy Leefers, Larry Larson, Bob Brandt, Sue Saathoff, Maureen Vogt, and Donna Crownover. Absent: Corinne Zahn, Glenda Willnerd.
President Barb Wilhelm called the meeting to order. Minutes of the previous meeting were read. Motion for approval to minutes was made by Bob Brandt, seconded by Peggy Leefers and approved by members.
Treasurer’s Report:
Bob has not yet received the 12/31/2015 financial report from the Nebraska Community Foundation. Thus, balances are as of September 30, 2015, as reflected in the December 8, 2015, minutes.
All Fund Drive $ 400.00
CC Endowment Fund $ 5,537.42
General Fund $55,184.61
Total $61,122.03
Disbursements since last meeting of December 8, 2015:
Unadilla Village-Community Center Roof $10,000.00

All Fund Drive for 2015 totaled $8,810.00 which exceeded previous years. A big thank you to everyone who contributed.
Bob reported that he was again contacted by John Wilson from the Omaha Community Foundation. They are still looking for philanthropic community projects such as community center and library, fire and rescue, food bank, recycling, etc.
Bob reported he has applied for funds from the Otoe County Visitor’s Bureau for advertising of the Groundhog Day Celebration. We will advertise through Nebraska Life and B103.
A big thank you to Keith Moss and the “Better Beef Producers 4-H Club” for both their past and current work clearing branches and cleaning up the park and walk path. Their volunteer efforts are greatly appreciated.
Larry Larson made a motion to approve, Donna Crownover seconded, and all members approved both the treasurer’s report and the transactions listed above.
Follow Up
All agreed that the reception held on December 8th was a huge success. This reception was to welcome new residents of Unadilla and to share all that Unadilla has to offer with them. Also invited were leaders of the community. The Unadilla benefits sheet was distributed to all that attended. Bob Brandt welcomed everyone and each person introduced themselves. Refreshments were enjoyed by all. It was agreed to continue this tradition in the future.
Sue reported that she had spoken with Greta Leach, Director of Community Development Philanthropy, Nebraska Community Foundation. They discussed revision of our operating procedures and the possibility of Greta conducting an orientation session for our board. This session would take approximately 30 to 45 minutes. After discussion it was agreed to schedule Greta for our next meeting on February 9th. Sue will follow up with Greta.
Groundhog Day Celebration
Bob passed around the advertisement sheet for the upcoming February 6th Groundhog Day Celebration. Discussion was held regarding possible revisions for next year. Glenda had volunteered at the last meeting to take on this project. In order to have it ready for next year, revisions should be done by June 30.
Bob reported that we still have a need for a new groundhog – Bill will be retired.
Barb reported that she is putting together a display covering 20 years of Groundhog Day Celebrations. This will be exhibited in the history room.
Retha Neeman and Bob Brandt will be leading the silent auction efforts this year. Everyone is encouraged to donate items.
Larry Larson distributed raffle ticket packets. First prize this year is a gas grill and a $200 gift certificate to M&K Meats; 2nd prize is a $200 gift certificate to M&K Meats.

at the Duncan Building
Wednesday, February 3, 2016 – 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Unadilla Bill is traveling to the Last Chance Bar in Burr, NE
Saturday, February 6, 2016 – Groundhog Dog Celebration
8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Unadilla Community Center -- Craft/Flea market/Quilt Show/Library Book Giveaway/Silent Auction
1:00 p.m. Groundhog Day Parade [Entries will line up for the parade at 12:30 at Dan’s Tire]
New Items:
Sue reported that a Painting Class is scheduled for Saturday, February 20, at the Unadilla Community Center. Sharon Demaree will be the instructor. The flyer is being prepared and this will be advertised during the Groundhog Day Celebration.
Next Meeting
The next meeting will be Tuesday, February 9th, 2016, at 10:00 at the Library.
