Jeff Huber celebrated his 40th birthday on July 5th
with a surprise party at Haymarket Park. 40+ friends
and family attended, some from Pennsylvania, California, and
Lincoln. They enjoyed hot dogs, grilled chicken, etc.
supplied by the Saltdogs, and birthday cake
decorated by Glenda (Wallen) Willnerd. The
Saltdogs lost to the Wichita Wingnuts 4-0 (Darn!)

Viola Maloy is thinking about Groundhog Day already,
especially since she had one trapped in her garage.

Friday, 8-6-1909, The Otoe Union:
Thomas Rodaway bought an International automobile.
Mamie (Darling) Purviance died and was buried at Park
Hill, Syracuse. Blanche Smith died at the home of H.A.
Butt, and was transported to St. Joseph, MO, for burial.
Birney Keach & Vivian Schieck were married in Lincoln.
The Otoe Union and The St. Louis Republic
cost $1.25 a year for both papers.

the Moonshell Storytelling Festival 2009
Nebraska StoryArts presents the eighth annual Moonshell Storytelling Festival on
Sept. 12, 2009, at Mahoney State Park
storytellers will take part in a daylong celebration to preserve the art of storytelling.
The festival will offer storytelling concerts geared toward families with special events
for adults and will conclude with ghost stories in the evening.
Back by popular demand
and a story swap during which you can tell your own story.
All storytelling performances and events are free with a $4.00 park admission.
Featured storytellers include:
Patrick Ball
Patrick Ball is one of the premier Celtic harp
players in the world and a captivating spoken
word artist. He has recorded seven
instrumental and three spoken word albums,
which have sold more than 500,000 copies
internationally and won national awards in both
the music and spoken word categories.
Linda Gorham
Linda Gorham is better than recess!
That's what students say about her storytelling. Nationally
known award-winning speaker and storyteller, Linda
inspires her audiences by using movement, humor, and
sometimes zaniness as she tells imaginative folktales and
personal tales updated with "attitude." Linda is a contributor
to Telling Stories to Children, published by the National
Storytelling Network and Quality Angles, a book that
explores excellence in the workplace.
Charlie Chin
Charlie Chin was a student of the late Storytelling Master,
Leong Chi Ming of Toisan China, from whom he learned
the Teahouse Style" of Chinese Storytelling. Wearing the
Chinese scholar's robe and using the paper folding fan,
Chin has presented Traditional Chinese Storytelling at
schools, libraries, museums, and festivals across the
United States and Canada.
Pippa White
Pippa White is in her fourteenth year as a solo
performer. The native of Lincoln, Neb., calls her
Ones Company Productions part theatre, part
storytelling, part history. Audiences call them
unique, captivating, and touching.
