The Library Board met on 11-30 with Peggy Leefers, Jean
Lucas, Lois Ebert, and Alberta Block present. The treasurer's
report was unavailable; the previous balance was $1112.52.
New books were presented and are now available for loan.
Nicholas Sparks is the December author of the month and
his latest offering, "Safe Haven", is in. The set up for library
furniture and supplies were discussed. New keys and entry
cards will be made available after the Village Office is moved
into the school building. It may be possible to have the library
open more hours, and we may be able to use some volunteer
groups for that purpose. The website will be updated soon.
As a point of interest, it was mentioned the library contains
more than 12,000 books.
An open house is planned in conjunction with the Groundhog Day
celebration. At this time it is planned for
8:30 - 12:30 on 2-5-2011. A brief questionnaire will
be available for folks to express their thoughts and ideas
regarding the hours, etc. A DVD titled "Iron Jawed Angels"
and some information regarding the suffragettes is now
ready for viewing. The possibility of having a speaker from
the Humanities Council in the fall of 2011 was discussed.
Two dozen Groundhog books will be ordered; the map inside
the book shows Unadilla, Nebraska. The meeting adjourned
at 4:00 p.m.
