Sunday, members of the Christian Church held their 2nd free

dinner for Veterans and First Responders, serving spaghetti,

salad, garlic bread, brownies, and drinks. There were 30 honorees

and family members in attendance. And as we said to them,

"Thank you all for your service."

Some of the Honorees

Please share your news with us as we have lots of former

residents who like to know what's going on in the old hometown!

Thank you

And the Nebraska stamps were ordered and have arrived.

They will be on display in the History Room. And thanks so much

to Karen Isaacs who donated a 1950 annual, also for the

History Room.

Good news! A hydrant has been installed on the west end

of the community garden. Planting time is nearly here. If we

can find them, there will be peanuts growing at the Western

Wilhelm Outpost.

Burton Brandt_500

Burton Brandt

Burton Brandt, who is working on his Eagle Scout designation,

will be expanding our arboretum over the summer. Talk to him

about memorial trees and plaques to go with them.

Billy Graham

In honor of Billy Graham, who recently passed away, the

library has his autobiography. Stop in and check out

"Just As I Am". In his own words, Graham tells of his upbringing

on a southern dairy farm to his early preaching experiences

to his rise as an international evangelist. It is

truly an inspirational read.

Patch Quilt

March 17th is also “National Quilting Day”.  Start your day with a stop

at the Unadilla library to check out our quilt books and the barn quilts.

Then head up to Lincoln to the International Quilt Museum for a full

day of lectures and exhibts and view the beautiful quilts on display.

May you_always

Have you brushed up on your Irish trivia in preparation for

St. Patrick's Day? Here are just a few: How many Americans

claim Irish ancestry? Over 43 million. What creature did St.

Patrick banish from Ireland? The snake. Where did the potato

blight of the 1840's, which led to famine in Ireland, originate?

The United States. What 1959 Disney movie includes an Irish

storyteller who falls down a well? "Darby O'Gill and the Little

People." When was Aer Lingus established? 1936. Have fun

while "wearin' the green" and be safe!
