Village Board Meeting Tonight
Wednesday, March 13, 7:30 pm, Village Library
The Public is always welcome!

Get well wishes to Gary Boone and Matt Daharsh. And to the many folks who are recuperating
from flu, strep throat and pneumonia. It's been a rough winter!
Bob Wilhelm reports the District #12 Legion Convention held at Talmage, Saturday,
March 9, was well attended. Look for photos on the Massie-Richards Post #100 FB page.

Congratulations to the Alex Mahloch family on the arrival of a new baby.

Please share your news with us as we have lots of former residents who like to know
what's going on in the old hometown!

Condolences to Brandon Isaacs and his family on the loss of his father and former
resident, Derrick Isaacs. He was buried in the Unadilla Cemetery.

Have you brushed up on your Irish trivia in preparation for St. Patrick's Day? Here are just
a few: How many American claim Irish ancestry? Over 43 million. What creature did St. Patrick
ban from Ireland? The snake. Where did the potato blight of the 1840's, which led to famine in
Ireland, originate? The United States. Have fun while "wearin' the green" and be safe!

Let's shower Leta Steinkuhler for her 90th birthday on March 25!
Send cards to her at: 450 8th Street, Unadilla, 68454

NEWS FROM 100 YEARS AGO

Friday, 3-14-1919, The Otoe Union:
Cal Roberts was working for the Hib Motor Company. The County Road Supt. was in
West Russell urging farmers to cut down hedge rows. All men who were in service since
April 1917, would receive an extra $60 in their pay. The home folks were glad to learn
the 89th and 42nd Divisions had set sail from Belgium for home.
