May girl

According to the school calendar, May 23rd is the last day of school.

Where did the year go?

Flooding

Had an unusual Mother's Day. Traveled to Iowa on Hwy #2. Yes, you can get to I-29 but you have to be very patient as it's one lane traffic and an inch of rain could probably shut it down in a hurry. The single lane is built up with fine gravel between cement barricades. Even then, water had come in underneath. The gas station on the south side is open but everything on the north side is still surrounded by water. You have to follow a pilot vehicle. When we got on I-29 headed south, we noticed a long line of semis waiting to get off and onto #2. Parts of the interstate was also one lane on each side and the damage along the way is incredible: houses surrounded by water with vehicles and tractors abandoned or tipped over on their sides; grain bins cracked open with grain spilling on the ground, and debris piles everywhere. We had to go to St. Joe before we could head west again and hopped on #75 for home. Drove in and out of rain all day. The happiest part of the day: I had my husband's undivided attention and he couldn't go anywhere!

sending feel better wishes

Healing thoughts and wishes for a speedy recovery to former

resident, Charlie Hendricks.

The redbud trees are beautiful this year. The ones planted along the fence at

the cemetery are growing and they're a wonderful addition to an otherwise sad

place. If you're interested in helping out with the care and upkeep of this

historical site, please let me know - we could us some younger help!
