Sunday afternoon our family attended the presentation "Lincoln's Balloon Spies"

at the GAR Hall in Nebraska City, given by Terry Lowe. It was so interesting!

The balloons were tethered so the man in the basket could telegraph reports to the

fighters on the ground. He also used signal flags so the men could redirect their cannon

fire. I don't remember studying anything about this, but there are at least 5 books on the

subject. You're never too old to learn something new!

 Peace

Condolences to the family and friends of Michele Ziemann, wife of Darin. She

passed away on Sept. 21 and will be laid to rest in the Unadilla Cemetery.

A life too short, she will be missed.

Unfortunately, we had some vandalism at the Park over the weekend: broken light

fixtures and chunks of cement broken off in the concession stand bathrooms. Every

time this happens, it just lessens the enjoyment of our beautiful park for everyone

else. If you saw anything, please call the Village Office.

get well soon 2

New get well wishes to Sandi Kimbell, Steve Windhorst, Dean Achen and John

Stilwell. Continued wishes to Jason Schomerus, Rick Wassenberg, Bev Anderson,

Barb Brandt, Tracy Meyer, Larry Larson, Lee Clark, Dwight Kastens and Nina Rohlfs.

We had another 2+ inches of rain over the weekend at the Western Wilhelm

Outpost. Have you got your boat ready???

Thank you crop

Thanks so much to the children of George & Mattie Stilwell for donating bows from a

covered wagon (used to support the canvas). Now if we can find the homesteading

story that goes with them - who can help me with this?
