From Corinne at the Village Office to all Unadilla business owners: "This is just a reminder that starting January 01, 2020, there will be a local sales tax you may need to start collecting of 1 1/2%. Questions or concerns should be addressed with the Nebraska Department of Revenue or your tax preparer. You will not be receiving any information from the Nebraska Department of Revenue concerning this, it will be up to you. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact the Village Office at 402-828-5355. Thank you."
Darn, thought for sure we'd be celebrating a Lady Husker win! It was a great year anyway and we're ready for 2020!

Congratulations to John & Montana Bean on the arrival of their daughter Lillian Grace!
We are so happy for your safe arrival.

Remember, Countryside Bank is collecting non-perishable food items for the Syracuse and Palmyra Food Banks. They can be left at any of their locations.

Continued get well wishes for Peggy Leefers, Milton Leefers, Nina Rohlfs and Sharon Baker.

Harper Wilhelm
Santa visited the Duncan Building, Saturday, December 14. He handed out stockings filled with all kinds of goodies to 31 local children. All report a fun morning and great tasting cookies!

NEWS FROM 100 YEARS AGO

Friday, 12-19-1919, The Otoe Union:
"Dick Roberts has the misfortune to lose 3 young cattle from corn stalk disease, it is supposed." John H. McGee, early pioneer and Civil War Veteran, died and was buried at Hopewell. "Taylor Graham is using his whispering apparatus. It is said that he is saving his voice for old age." Lizzie Callaway, West Russell, walked to school in town, 3 3/4 miles, and the temperature was -32. Wow! Now that's a dedicated student!
