The Legion Continuous Membership Dinner that was to be held this Friday night at the Syracuse Country Club, is CANCELLED. It will not be rescheduled. Your certificates and pins will be sent to you. Thank you for your support of the American Legion and its Auxiliary.

The Unadilla Rescue Squad's Soup Luncheon that was to be held this Sunday, March 22, is CANCELLED. If you would still like to make a donation, please send it to: Unadilla Rescue, PO Box 15, Unadilla, NE, 68454-0015. They thank you in advance.

Steve Vodicka reports: If you call 911 (in regards to possible symptoms) they will ask a series of questions pertaining to COVID 19. When the Rescue Squad arrives, a single EMT will come into your home, if any of the symptoms are present, and ask the same questions. This EMT will have on protective gear, so don't be surprised, it is just standard protocol. You will then be transported to the most appropriate hospital for the seriousness of the illness. Fire & Rescue urges us all not to panic and to follow the guidelines set out by the CDC.

Stay safe and wash your hands!

School was cancelled this week, and who knows what the next weeks will bring? Please keep in touch with neighbors, especially if they are elderly. They may need things from the store, or medicine, or maybe just some contact with the outside world. A phone call won't cost you anything and will certainly brighten someone's day! This pandemic will be over eventually, and what will matter is how we treated each other. Just sayin'!

 OIP 2

March is Poison Prevention month. Have you checked your medicine cabinets and cupboards for outdated medicine or chemicals? How about the garage or the barn? Do you have toddler's visiting in the near future? Is there anything within reach of those small hands? Better safe than sorry.

 Gang of Dogs

Just a reminder that dog licenses expire on April 30th. Please have a current copy of your dog's rabies vaccination certificate when you renew. The fee is still $5.00 per animal.

NEWS FROM 100 YEARS AGO

Friday, 3-19-1920, The Otoe Union:

Willie Goering was clerking at Horstman's Store. The basement of the Christian Church parsonage was completed. "Mr. and Mrs. Holly Luff entertained a number of young married people at their home, March 11th, in honor of Mr. and Mrs. George Brandt." It was a surprise shower and the gifts were piled in a little wagon decorated in red and white. A number of guests provided musical selections.
