The flag at our cemetery has been lowered to half mast in honor of LPD Investigator Mario Herrera, who lost his 2 week battle with a gunshot wound. Prayers to his family on the loss of such a wonderful man.

Please fly an American flag of any size on Friday, September 11, Patriot Day. Honor those who lost their lives, their families, and those who are still fighting today, at home and abroad, to preserve our freedom.

The Village Library will be closed until furthur notice. If necessary, call Peggy at 828-5725.

Nebraska Territory’s 1854 boundaries stretched from the Missouri River to the Rockies, and from Kansas to Canada. In 1861, Congress sliced off Dakota and Colorado Territories. This created Nebraska’s present-day northern boundary.
The new division also created Nebraska’s Panhandle. On this 1862 map, it stretches almost to Fremont’s Peak and Fort Bridger in what is now western Wyoming. The long Panhandle didn’t last long. A further division reduced it to its present shape in 1863.
