The recycling center west of Unadilla will be discontinued by the end of this month, due to misuse and overfilling the containers. Sorry for the inconvenience but it was getting out of hand.

 Covid 19

As of Tuesday morning, 9-15, there has been 131 cases of Corona Virus in Otoe County. I'm sorry there are conflicting numbers on how many have recovered, SEHD shows 27 active cases as of 9-11. Thankfully, the death toll has remained at 1.

Get well wishes to Leonard Lemka and everyone else who has been ill or in the hospital.

Fall sports continues on, and hopefully you have attended a few games. It is a little slice of normality for the kids, as well as the adults.

We have new houses going up north of town, a new one going up in town, and a new one south of town. It's a good sign isn't it???

Did you know Nebraska has aquifers below it? If poured over the surface of the state, the water would be 37.9 feet deep. The state has nearly 10,000 registered and active wells; 44% of cropland harvested is irrigated.

NEWS FROM 100 YEARS AGO

 Man reading newspaper 250

Friday, 9-17- 1920, The Otoe Union:

Ed Watson, Seth Butler, John Pickett and Fred Lyon, all Unadilla, were initiated into the Oddfellows at Syracuse. Prof. Edlin, from Clay Center, Kansas, was the new professor at Unadilla Schools. From the editor: "Some low down cur is scattering booze in our town and if he is found out his hide will be hung on a fence to dry." Wow!
