Just a reminder that the recycling bins west of the Village will be gone by the end of September. Palmyra takes most recyclables except glass. For a small fee, you can also dump trash. Their hours are 10-5 on Saturdays and 1-5 on Sundays.
As of Tuesday, 9-22, there has been 137 cases of Covid reported in Otoe County and the death toll remains at 1.
In regards to the flag flying at half-mast at our cemetery, 2 weeks ago it was for LPD Inv. Mario Herrera and now is for Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She will be buried at Arlington Cemetery beside her husband, and the flag will be raised the evening of her internment.

Get well wishes to everyone who's been ill or in the hospital. Not using names as folks automatically think the illness is Covid and that has upset a few. Remember to get your flu shots!!!
Bob and I took a "crop tour" Sunday afternoon. We didn't find anywhere that beans had been harvested, but some are starting on the corn. Hard to believe it's almost October!
Remember the Village Library is closed until further notice.
Due to repairs, there will be no church services at the Christian Church until further notice.

NEWS FROM 100 YEARS AGO

Friday, 9-24-1920, The Otoe Union:
"The farmers report that they cannot remember when they had such a nice summer and fall to get their harvesting and work done and the ground has been and is in fine shape to work." It was noted at the same time in 1895, the temperature was 134 degrees. The local wool growers association was questioning the sale of their product at only 15 or 20 cents a pound.
