Remember to fly a flag on December 7th, in honor of the 2000+ soldiers and sailors who lost their lives when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor.

Continued get well wishes to everyone who has been ill, whether with Covid or other illnesses. Sadly, the covid numbers continue to rise here in Otoe County.
Thank you to these All Fund Drive contributors: Dean/Donna Speth, Steve/Betty Vodicka, Danny/Rita Mitchell, Gordon Hopp, Chuck Bjork/Bev Wilhelm, Bob/Patty Engelbrecht, and Arlin/Ninajean Rohlfs. It is most appreciated.
What was Christmas like when you were a kid? Please share your favorite story with us. YOU decide if it's to be published or not. We would like to add them to the family histories in our Research Room also.

This is the amazing display at the home of Cody & Amber Boone.
If you're in Syracuse after dark, take a drive down by Williams Park. They have replaced the lights with green and red bulbs and it looks so festive!
Thank you to Kathryn Callaway for sending us a funeral card for Wesley Botsford. It will be added to the collection in the Resource Room.

Our Sunday drive took us to two towns we had not been to in several years. Steinauer, which we think must have been close to a brick making company, has a lovely Catholic church, presbytery, and Convent House, all made of beautiful red brick, as well as some private homes.

Then we traveled to Pawnee City, to see if we could identify the building where we lived when I was a baby. I thought it overlooked a movie theater (as we lived above a business) but we could find no evidence. We're wondering if it might have overlooked the courthouse, which makes more sense, as most of the business buildings do! We thought we'd quench our thirst at Schilling Bridge Winery, but sadly, they were not open. We did manage to find some roads we think we'd never been on before, and debated traveling the 19 miles to Kansas, to say we'd been "out of state". Our stomachs won out as we headed north to Auburn and Sonic!

Condolences to the many family and friends of Leona (Lemka) Lewis, who passed away this last Friday. The funeral and graveside services will be family only. She will be laid to rest beside her husband Glenn, in the Unadilla Cemetery. She was a wonderful woman and I loved the conversations we used to have when the Village Office was on Main Street.
Condolences also to Dean Speth and family on the passing of Dean's brother, Ralph.

This beautiful photo was found on "Nebraska Through the Lens". It's so Nebraska! It was taken by Pamela S. Williams near Merna, NE.
Does anyone know who takes care of the Pleasant Hill Cemetery? Please let me know!
