No school Monday or Tuesday because of the snow. We think we had between 12 and 13 inches. We're ready for spring!

Trash pickup will be this Saturday, as Papillion Sanitation did not work on this past Monday.

From the Southeast Health Department: If you want to pre-register for the Covid vaccination, please go to or if you don't have computer access, please call 402-274-3993, extension #105, #109, or #110. It's very easy. They will ask you for your name, address, phone number, where you go to the doctor, and what race you identify with. It only takes a few minutes!
Thanks so much to Ruth Neemann for her contributions to the Resource Room.
This will be the first year in over 30 that there won't be a Groundhog celebration in Unadilla. No Quackoff at Avoca either.
You have probably seen all the Bernie Sanders memes. Here are a couple of our favorites!

Get well wishes to everyone and especially to Steve Kroese. Will be thinking of you Maureen Vogt on Groundhog Day.
A BRIDGE TO THE PAST
from Cub Investigative Reporter Bob Wilhelm
Two miles east of Unadilla, south of Old-Old Highway 2 and the railroad tracks, are the skeletal remains of a decaying cement bridge. Since I was a pup, I have driven and rode by this bridge a bajillion times and never given it much thought. This appears to be the predecessor of the path of Old-Old Highway 2. The 1917 Otoe County Atlas shows an unnamed "Improved Road" coming out of the southwest side of current day Unadilla and going east-southeast on the south side of the railroad tracks. It continued on the the south side of the tracks until it crossed to the north side of the tracks just south and a little west of where Tony & Tina Engelbrecht now live. I am looking for help in finding when the Old-Old Highway 2 was built on the north side of the railroad tracks, where it is today. Some think it may have been in the 1930s. If anyone has an Otoe County Atlas from that era to show when this occurred, a photo, and information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Friday, 1-28-1921, The Otoe Union:
"I am oiling harness at my old stand, at the same old price and the same old oil. Neats' foot and fish oil softens the leather, prevents rats and mice from gnawing. I also do shoe repairing. Judge Carper." K.C. Stoner and Ruby Wallen were married in Lincoln on 1-19-1921. Dues for the American Legion were $1.50/year.

Regrettably, although in the best interest of all of our patrons and performers, due to the covid-19 pandemic, we have decided to cancel all shows for the foreseeable future.
It's our hope that 2021 brings good health to everyone and we can reopen to get back to some good ol' country music with our friends.
