NEWS FROM 100 YEARS AGO

 Man reading newspaper 250

Friday, 5-6-1921, The Otoe Union:

Arthur Geschke was kicked by a horse, breaking his knee. H.E. Bassett was the Village Clerk. The average temperature for April 1921 was 54.4 degrees, total precipitation was 2.77 inches. Entrance to the bank in Palmyra was gained by breaking out the glass in the front door. A sledge hammer was used to open the vault and nitro glycerin was used to get through the inner doors. It was believed no valuable items were taken as they were unable to open the customer boxes.
