Syr Rocketman 250

The Syracuse High School graduation ceremony was held Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. Congratulations to these Syracuse graduates who hail from Unadilla: Abby Vodicka, Burton Brandt, John Hidalgo, Lorelei Bassinger, and Sydney Wellsandt. Can't wait to see what adventures are in store for you all!

Friday, we finally have hummingbirds on the feeders! So glad they made it back. Now if it would just warm up a bit!

Folks are still debating masks and social distancing. We have a few more covid cases in Otoe County and 1 more death, but here's another interesting statistic:

Flu cases 300

Don't think I'll be throwing away my masks just yet.

Rest in peace

Our condolences to the family and friends of Opal McConnell, daughter of Bill and Ruby Buchholz. She will be laid to rest next to her parents in the Unadilla Cemetery.

NEWS FROM 100 YEARS AGO

Man reading newspaper 250

Friday, 5-13-1921, The Otoe Union:

Several children had the chicken pox. W.M. Hahn was the new clerk at Schreiner's Hardware store. The seniors went to Lincoln to have their pictures taken. There was a meeting of the "Nobel Order of Gloom Chasers." Everyone reported having a good time.

Farmers Market

The Syracuse Farmers Market will start back up this Saturday, May 15, from 8-10:30AM. We will be in the same location as last year just off highway 50 and 11th Street, a block North of Breadeaux Pizza. Look for our sign to go up this week in front of the building. We should have early Spring vegetables, Raw Honey, Sugar Scrubs, and hopefully baked goods available. We are also looking forward to the possibility of having a local beef producer selling steaks, etc., with us this year. Please come out and support our local vendors.

If you would like to join us as a vendor, please talk to Bob Fisher or Katrina Medeiros for USDA and State of Nebraska requirements
