Brandt of Unadilla and VanWinkle of Kearney had 8 tackles each in a losing cause (3-10) for the south squad at the North-South Shrine Bowl this past Saturday. The 45 players from each squad participated in an 11 a.m. parade on that day, after a full week of practice at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Burton Brandt was the 10th player to represent the Syracuse Rockets in the bowl since its inception in 1959. The first two Rockets to play were Tom Formanack in 1963 and Bill Formanack in 1967.

Good news! As of Monday, Otoe County had only 17 active cases of Covid, no new cases reported, and no new deaths!

Last week the old house of Inez Hahne was torn down. Will we be getting another new house in town?

NEWS FROM 100 YEARS AGO

 Man reading newspaper 250

Friday, 6-10-1921, The Otoe Union:

"Unadilla needs a doctor to locate in the town." Joe Nation started working at the Farmer's Elevator, taking Jess Sigman's place. Wm. Taney purchased the old shoe shop from the DuBois estate. Taylor Graham purchased the Van Meter barn and planned to use it as a community sale barn. The bills allowed for May 1921 by the Village Board amounted to $43.30

Farmers Market

The Syracuse Farmers Market will start back up this Saturday, May 15, from 8-10:30AM. We will be in the same location as last year just off highway 50 and 11th Street, a block North of Breadeaux Pizza. Look for our sign to go up this week in front of the building. We should have early Spring vegetables, Raw Honey, Sugar Scrubs, and hopefully baked goods available. We are also looking forward to the possibility of having a local beef producer selling steaks, etc., with us this year. Please come out and support our local vendors.
If you would like to join us as a vendor, please talk to Bob Fisher or Katrina Medeiros for USDA and State of Nebraska requirements
