The Food Bank will be at the corner by the Park this morning (Wednesday) from 10 - 11 a.m.

Learned of the passing of Larry McConnell last week. Those of you who grew up in Unadilla will remember him as the youngest child of Gladys McConnell. He is survived by his wife Debra, sister, Jackie McConnell, and mother-in-law, Belva Rosenthal. Our condolences to his family.
Can you believe this weather? Monday we reached 59 degrees at the Western Wilhelm Outpost. Not complaining, but we could use a little moisture!

Today (Wednesday, Feb 2) is the actual Groundhog Day, although residents and friends will be celebrating this Saturday. Although most activities have been cancelled, the parade will go on! Line up by Dan's Tire at 1:30, Parade will begin at 2:00. There will be some activity in the Duncan Building after 9:00 a.m. Mal's Bar & Grill will open at 10:00 a.m. and will be serving some food. The Library will be open regular time Saturday morning. New buttons are available also, in tribute to our new Groundhog, Billie. There are still some shirts available at Nitty Gritty and we still have raffle tickets available. Weather forecast looks pretty good - hope to see you there!
Unadilla Billie DID NOT see her shadow. We will have an early spring!!!

Continued get well wishes to so many who've been sick or quarantined at home lately. Hang in there, Spring is less than 60 days away; depending on Billie's forecast, maybe sooner!

Shared from a friend on Facebook. Had heard this before, but didn't know if it was true or not!
February is Earthquake Awareness Month. The state of Oklahome had one this past Monday and folks around Kansas City felt the aftershocks!

NEWS FROM 100 YEARS AGO

Friday, 2-3-1922, The Otoe Union:
A recipe for "Plain Pork Sausage" from County Agent, A.H. DeLong, was front page news. The packing strike at the Morton-Gregson plant in Nebr. City, was called off by the butcher's union. The young people in town were ice skating every night. There was a new system put in place for automobiles based on the number of them in the county; Otoe county was designated as #11. The average temperature for January 1922 was 23.2 degrees; the total precipitation was 1.05".
