Rest in peace

Learned of the passing of Larry McConnell last week. Those of you who grew up in Unadilla will remember him as the youngest child of Gladys McConnell. He is survived by his wife Debra, sister, Jackie McConnell, and mother-in-law, Belva Rosenthal. Our condolences to his family.

Can you believe this weather? Monday we reached 59 degrees at the Western Wilhelm Outpost. Not complaining, but we could use a little moisture!

NEWS FROM 100 YEARS AGO

Man reading newspaper 250

Friday, 2-3-1922, The Otoe Union:

A recipe for "Plain Pork Sausage" from County Agent, A.H. DeLong, was front page news. The packing strike at the Morton-Gregson plant in Nebr. City, was called off by the butcher's union. The young people in town were ice skating every night. There was a new system put in place for automobiles based on the number of them in the county; Otoe county was designated as #11. The average temperature for January 1922 was 23.2 degrees; the total precipitation was 1.05".
