The Lincoln Food Bank will be at the Park this morning (Wednesday) from 10 - 11 a.m. Please spread the word!
Papillion Sanitation reminds everyone they will be closed Monday for the holiday, so your garbage will be picked up one day late.
Please fly an American flag of any size on Sunday, Septemberr 11, Patriot Day. Honor those who lost their lives, their families, and those who are still fighting today, at home and abroad, to preserve our freedom.
Grandparent's Day also falls on 9-11 this year.
Condolences to the many family and friends of Barb (Wallen) Witt. She grew up in the house where we live and was our neighbor when we first moved here. Her boys, Tim and David, were my first babysitting job! I so loved talking to her.
Condolences also to Vicky Ray and children on the loss of Lee. The Ray family lived just east of Unadilla and Lee graduated in the SHS Class of 1970 with Bob. Gone much to soon.
Condolences to my cousins and families who were at the Wagner reunion with us. They lost their Mom, Lucille Fisk Kriefels on Saturday, September 3.
For the first time in 3 years, Bob and I took a real vacation. OK, it was to a family reunion, but it was in Amarillo, Texas, so that counts, right? And yes, you can drive from Unadilla to Amarillo in 12 hours! The total miles round trip was 1436. My sister Mary and cousin Sheila also went with us. It was so good to see everyone and meet new cousins in the Wagner family tree.
The further south we went, the more our ears popped. So here's some facts: Lincoln's elevation is 1176' while Amarillo's is 3668'...No wonder these Nebraska ears were going crazy! Also, Lincoln has a population of 286,388 people in 96.2 square miles while Amarillo has 199,225 population in 103.9 miles.

The group took a tour of nearby Palo Duro Canyon State Park and then had lunch in the nearby town of Canyon.

That evening we had a great meal and enjoyed the auction of items we each had contributed. My sister Mary conducted a Quilt of Valor presentation for our cousin Hillary Unger. Bob and I were honored to help with it and to wrap Hillary in the quilt Mary had made for her.
