Perhaps this is too much information, but let me share with you some geneology my sister Mary has discovered:

Have a Happy Halloween everyone!

Are we going to make it through October with no snow? Yesterday we did have a light rain that lasted through most of the day. Saturday and Sunday the temperatures were in the 80's. We know it won't last, so enjoy it while you can!
We had to make several passes through Main Street Saturday to see all the neat old cars and motorcycles parked there. The Cornhusker car with the Halloween decorations was my favorite! It was great to see them all heading into Mal's. Hoping they gassed up at Nitty Gritty before they left town.

We went to the Junior and Senior High Band Concert in Syracuse Thursday night. It was held in the stadium and a large crowd attended. All the kids did a great job and we enjoyed the music so much. Glad we wore our coats though!

Don't forget the Lincoln Food Bank will be near the Park on Wednesday, November 2, from 10 - 11 a.m. Spread the word!

Our condolences to Todd Zahn, his family and friends, on the loss of his father Harold Zahn. He was such a nice man and will certainly be missed.
Lots of farmers are wrapping up their harvest. Some report poor yields while others had surprisingly good ones. Oh, the life of a farmer!
Can anyone identify this plant for me? It's growing along the SW corner of the west Unadilla bridge. Don't want to transplant it if it's a weed!

Some of you may know this story already, but it bears repeating. Henrietta Hines was returning to Hamburg, Iowa, by train, from a trip to Denver, Colorado. It was 1890, and she was pregnant. She went into labor unexpectantly, and had the baby at Unadilla. The baby was named Unadilla, and by all reports she hated that name; she went by Una instead. She is buried in the Hamburg cemetery where Bob and I found her. Later on we met her grandson, who at the time was a cancer surgeon in Omaha, and Bob Brandt originally heard this story from her son, who was also in the banking profession.
