Thanks to everyone who helped put up flags at the Unadilla Cemetery. It always takes one's breath away to see them waving in the wind.

And thanks to those who returned Monday evening to take them down and fold them. It couldn't happen without our generous volunteers.

 

 

What a busy, but great weekend! Caught up with so many old friends...visited SO many cemeteries! We decorated graves at Hopewell, Syracuse and Palmyra. Memorial Day started out at 6 a.m. at the State Penitentiary, honoring the veterans buried there. 

 

This tombstone caught my eye. Such a short life.

 

 

At lunchtime, the Unadilla Library and the Young Men's Club hosted lunch at the Unadilla Gym, serving about 100 people. I had the History and Veterans Rooms open and visited with about 25 folks.

June 6th is National Yo-Yo Day. Let us know if you've mastered this skill! It's also Drive In Movie Day...good luck finding one of those!

W.F. Hair's Mecantile Store was having a "Reduction Sale." The town celebrated it's two remaining "old soldiers: A. Botsford and Joseph Keach." Louie Fey purchased a Ford coupe from the Palmyra Auto Company. George West go blood poisoning in his hand.
