The Food Bank served 120+ families last Friday. Thanks to these helpers who show up rain or shine: Bob Wilhelm, Jerry Wallen, Craig Kimbell, Steve Kroese, Andrew Kimbell, and Galen Crawford. We can't thank you enough guys!
Did you know the Ford Mustang was introduced on April 17, 1964? It's changed a lot since then! Wish I still had mine...

So sad to report the passing of Darin Ziemann. He was in the SHS Class of 1984. Our condolences to the family.
The Eastern Red Bud in the arboretum will be in peak bloom this coming weekend. (Cerci's cadnadensis) is a small, 15-30 ft, native tree often found as an understory tree along the forested areas along the Missouri River. It's known for its reddish purple blossoms that appear beffore the heart shaped leaves in early April. It's a fast grower and is drought tolerant. They prefer partial shade, but produce more blossoms in full sun. It can be a single or multi trunked tree and grow well in most well drained soils. Seeds can be harvested for replanting from most trees. Leaves turn yellow in the fall. It was chosen the state tree of Oklahoma in 1937! You can enjoy the Eastern redbud trees located at the flag poles on each end of Main Street through the end of April.

"One of the provisions of Nebraska's new gasoline tax bill is the exemption from the tax on gasoline used strictly for farm purposes and not used in vehicles used for road purposes. Dealers selling gasoline must procure a license and make monthly reports." Henry Hahn changed his mind about moving to Alaska, and rented a local farm instead. The Post Office building was sold to Louie Fey, the current Postmaster.
