Who are you rooting for???

Can you believe this weather? We have so much coming up: tulips, daffodils, and of course things we don't recognize and are wondering: are they plants or are they weeds? Seeing a lot of work in the fields also. Love this time of year!!!

This year the Otoe County Fair will be held July 31, 2026 - August 3, 2026. Mark your calendars now!

NEBRASKA LICENSE PLATE PRESENTATION WAS A HIT

John Stilwell reports that  last Saturday's presentation on history of Nebraska License plates was very interesting. The program was presented by Tom Dunekacke of Johnson who has been collecting Nebraska license plates for years with his collection nearing 50,000. The program at the Unadilla Community Center was sponsored by the Unadilla Library Association and was well attended.

 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

by Government Watch Dog Cub Reporter Bob Wilhelm

For those of us 70 somethings who can no longer renew our Nebraska Drivers License's by mail or on-line BEWARE! A while back Barb received the license renewal post card in the mail. Thinking she had plenty of time it laid on her desk until about two weeks before her expiration date. It seems the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicle drivers license testers are in short supply and often testing locations are closed due to staffing shortages. That is what Barb found out when on Monday she went to Nebraka City and they were closed. On Wednesday she went to Auburn and they were closed. She was starting to get concerned because if you let it expire then you have to take the written and perhaps the driving test just like the kids do. Not that she wouldn't have aced both of them. Thursday she went to Wilber and fortunately they were open with two very patient workers but she was behind 30 + others who were renewals, first time license seekers, suspended drivers etc. She arrived at 10:45 and walked out with a successful renewal at 2:45. She recommends starting the process as soon as you get the rewnewal notice.
