From the Village Office:
Next Monday, the 13th, is the first home game for the Renegades. They have done a lot of work on the Unadilla ballfield. Lets go down and support their team, maybe get a bag of popcorn, and cheer them on!

Thanks to these great volunteers who helped at the Food Bank last Friday:
Mary Wallen, Becky Hickman, Mike Hickman, Galen Crawford, Craig Kimbell, Steve Kroese, and Dale Henke...you're the best!!!

We know the farmers hate this stuff, but it is beautiful in this stage!
HENBIT : A BLESSING OR A CURSE?
by Agronomy Cub Reporter Bob Wilhelm
It is that time of year when our grasses and vegitation begin to creep into the landscape. Especially noticeable are the rolling stubbles of last years bean and corn crops that are covered with the beautiful purple of Henbit...if you aren't a farmer of course! We carefully edited the above photo so the location could not be determined for fear of upsetting one of our local farmers. In a recent converstion at the Paisley Bottom Coffee Shop and Critical Thinking Laboritory our Agronomy Committee discussed the 'Henbit crisis'. It was confirmed that the presence of Henbit in your feilds is not a negative indication of one's agricultural prowess. Henbit deadnettle (Lanium amplexicaule) is a common cool-season annual weed in the mint family. It provides early nectar for pollinators like bees and hummingbirds. It is easily pulled and can be used in salads and teas. All parts are edible with a slightly sweet, peppery taste and according to our research is rich in vitamins A, C and K, and iron. The downside is that it uses soil moisture that would preferably be utilized by the corn or soybean seeds and it increases chemical costs to control it..

Lots of activity at the sub-station north of town. Looks like they're expanding???
