A large crowd attended the retirement party for Mr. Micanek and Mr. Workman at the Duncan Building. They both will be greatly missed by this community.
A lot of landscaping was done by Eagle Nurseries this week on Main Street. New benches and trash receptacles were added last week. Thanks to Bob Brandt for securing the grant for this project.
Belated congratulations to all the seniors who graduated from Syracuse and Palmyra High Schools. Mindy Liesemeyer graduated from Midlands College on Saturday, May 23rd.

5-28-1909, The Otoe Union: A daughter was born to C.A. Jackson; and a son to Earnest Pratt. Percy Lapp's mother died and was buried at Hopewell. The youngest child of Chub Shreeve (North Russell) died of pneumonia. James H. Showalter, former resident and business man, died at Berlin, Ohio. Dr. J.F. Farwell took his state exam to practice medicine in Nebraska. (His residence and office was west of M.K. Meats, where the quonset building now stands.)
