On October 3, Dan & Babette McWilliams, along with their
adventurous friends, Ron & Julie Reineke from Lincoln, drove to
Crofton, Nebraska, to stay at the famous Argo Hotel Bed & Breakfast.
Included in the weekend was a planned hot air balloon ride if the
weather permitted. Dan & Ron helped with getting the balloon
ready to launch at a park in Yankton, SD. The trip lasted about an
hour after the launch and went over the Missouri River. The highest
point was 1650 feet and the fastest speed was around 20 miles
per hour, going about 10 miles. The pilot was Wayne Hajek from
Tyndall, SD, and knew Todd Crownover. They landed in an alphalfa
field with a christening ceremony afterward, including
champagne and other refreshments. They all agreed that everyone
should ride in a hot air balloon at least once in their life;
it was a peaceful and breathtaking experience.

Bob & Barb Wilhelm, Michele, Maisie, & Madison Hillman, and
Mary Hanke went to Iowa over the weekend to attend the baptism
of Ani & Brody Hitzemann, sons of Jenn & Scott Hitzemann.
The ceremony took place at the Asbury United Methodist Church
in Wellman. They were sponsored by Michele and Mary,
and Craig & Trista Newcombe of Bertrand, Nebraska. Several
other members of the family also attended. A lunch followed
at the Wellman Senior Center where the boys had a great
time with their cousins.
