Bob, Barb, & Ruth Wilhelm traveled to Red Oak, IA,

Sunday, to visit Wilson Wilhelm who had fallen and

broken his hip. They stopped along the way and picked

up Wilson's wife Carol. Wilson is the older brother of

Vernon Wilhelm. They had a wonderful lunch at an old

and remodeled firehouse that is now on the Historic

Register. And a great visit with Wilson, meeting some of

his neighbors and well-wishers.

The Unadilla Library Board met at 4:00 pm on April 27,

2010. Members present were Peggy Leefers, Jean Lucas,

Lois Ebert, Shirley Stubbendick, Sandi Kimbell, and

Alberta Block.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

The treasurer's report showed a balance on hand of

$1112.52. Shirley reported that she is busy sorting,

and organizing books. Help will be needed when the time

comes to move shelves and books to Syracuse. It was noted

that 25 of the shelves belong to the library and will stay

in Unadilla. The featured authors for May will be Jan

Karon and Mary Higgins Clark. They will be noted in the

Unadilla News Section of the Syracuse paper. Peggy

mentioned that the library has a number of very nice

quilt books available. A sign was discussed which would

be placed in front of the building, making it easy for

passersby to tell when the Library is open. A motion was

made by Alberta and seconded by Jean to purchase such

a sign when the details are worked out allowing the library

to continue. The sign will cost approximately $110. Motion

carried. Scholarship applications were discussed. A motion

was made by Sandi and 2nd by Lois that Jordan Lechner

and Emily Moss be awarded scholarships in the amount of

$200. each. The Sundowners Club has invited the library

board for an outing on Tuesday, June 15. Anyone who wished

to go should call Janet Lamb Twohig at 828-4335 by the

day before, if you would like to go. Attendees will meet at

10 am downtown and travel to Louisville to Art Chicks,

Coop DeVille, the soda fountain, and other fun stores.

Lunch will either be at Cedar Creek (and take in the quilt

show), or Good Times Bar & Grill in Louisville.

Peggy indicated she will be working library hours in May

but will contact members regarding the June Tuesdays.

Meeting adjourned at 5 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Alberta Block, Secretary

Friday, 5-6-1910, The Otoe Union:

Mr. & Mrs. John Milliken celebrated their 40th wedding

anniversary. William Saunders died at Ozark, Arkansas, and

was buried at Unadilla. (He built the "Roller Mills"

south of town.) O.G. Stoner, mail carrier on Route 2,

was "showered" with postcards for his birthday - 87

in all. The school play "Just For Fun" was a mix of students

and townspeople, and it was to benefit the

graduating 10th grade class.
