Milan Brehm just returned home from Peacham, Vermont, where he

attended the wedding of his nephew, Travis Fentiman, and

Anne-Marie Trudeau, on Saturday, October 2nd. Travis is the

youngest son of Marilyn & Harry Wimer of Lincoln, and Dan

Fentiman of Auburn. Travis' grandparents are Margaret Brehm

of Lincoln, and the late Richard Brehm and the late Glen and

Verda Fentiman. Travis and Anne-Marie will be living in

Greenville, SC. Milan said the fall colors were beautiful,

but, due to the hurricanes, it rained a lot of the time he was there.

Gramma Christie Brehm couldn't go because she was at home

spoiling her new grandson, Aiden Santiago, who was born

Thursday, September 23, to Erin and Carlos Velazco,

who live in Syracuse now. Eight pounds, eleven ounces, and

20 1/2 inches long. And he has lots of dark hair - Tonya is

going to have to give him his first haircut before he is a

month old! Big brother says: "Baby Aiden is a cute baby brother."

Uncle Randy is so glad to have an up and coming

little hay crew some day!

Southeast Nebraska Development District (SENDD) has

left the Village Office information on the Regional Owner

Occupied Housing Rehabilitation Program. Applications

are due by November 15, 2010, and will be processed on a

first-come, first served basis until funds are depleted. The goals

of the program are to increase the attractiveness of communities

in Butler, Otoe, Polk, and Saunders Counties, prevent the spread

of blight, increase the number of habitable dwelling units,

promote continued home ownership, discourage abandonment

or neglect of homes, and provide assistance to those persons of the

greatest need. (Rental units and mobile homes are NOT eligible

for assistance.) Copies and information are available during

normal business hours.

***

The Community Foundation will again be raffling off a

one-of-a-kind .22 rifle for Groundhog Day. Tickets can be

purchased at the Village Office, Countryside Bank, or from

any Foundation member.

The Unadilla Library Board members met September 28, 2010.

Those present were Chairman Peggy Leefers, Rose Marie Brandt,

Jean Lucas, Lois Ebert, Sandi Kimbell, and Alberta Block.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.

The Treasurer reported a balance of $1,112.52.

Several new books were discussed and plans were made to

order them. Peggy reported that the computer records have

been updated to include the books which are currently on

the shelves for loan. A number of duplicates and outdated

books were deleted from the system. More details will be

forthcoming regarding what records will be kept in the

Library. Peggy also reported that she had visited with someone

from the Nebraska Library Commission. Ideas for events, classes,

story times, etc., were discussed. The sign for in front of the

Library will be ordered at a later date, pending final plans for

the building. A Grand Opening will be held in the near future.

In order to best serve the community, a short questionaire

might be appropriate to help choose the best days and hours

for the most interested people. Until then, the hours will be

4:00 - 6:00 pm on Tuesdays.

Peggy thanked the board and other volunteers who spent many

hours getting the Library ready to open as a Community Library.

Meeting adjourned at 4:45 pm
