Judy Schwab and Phyllis Witte joined the Rocket Detectives
after school club on Tuesday, December 14. They discovered
what it was like to play on the Syracuse Bluebirds semi-
professional softball team. Lottie Blumberg, who stopped
playing in 1932, and Fern Carper, who played on the
championship team of 1937, were also in attendance. Judy
and Phyllis brought lots of memorabilia from the
Museum of Memories about the Bluebirds, including the
uniform cap worn by Margariete Hopp, who also played on
the team. Fern told about riding all the way to Des Moines
in a rumble seat and riding for the first time on a train.
The presentation was enjoyed by all.

Several residents have attended the performance
"Christmas at Leon's" at the Lofte Theater. And,
they all agree, it was hilarious! Our personal favorite was
Eddie the busdriver/Elvis played by Jamion Biesterfeldt.
And the "moral of the story" was so appropriate
for the season.

The youth group from the Christian Church did some caroling
on Main Street Sunday afternoon, and then, Santa appeared!
He was greeted by children of all ages who received a bag
of goodies and a soft toy animal.

Bob & Barb Wilhelm, Michele Hillman, Bruce & Teresa
Liesemeyer, Robert Schutz, Verena Schutz, and Arlin

the Christmas program at Northbranch Church Sunday
evening. The children, under the guidance of Lori Zahn and
Wendy Mueller, always do such a great job, and their
smiles are so contagious!
