Through the good work of Curtis Wolbert, OCGS

president, and Barb Hegr, Morton-James librarian, the

library at the Community Center is now home to a

microfilm/microfische reader. The folks at Concordia

College in Seward graciouly donated this wonderful piece

of equipment. We will now be able to obtain reels of film

for viewing in the comfort of our own library.

If you're researching old papers, etc, this is what

you want to use!

Unadilla Christian Church Circle met at the church, Thursday

evening, April 14th. Minutes were read and approved. Jean

Lucas, treasurer, gave a report of the business transactions for

the month. New windows have been purchased by the Circle

for Pastor Andy's office and the Mother's room. Kate Lucas

reported that as soon as weather permits, work needs to be

done on the memorial flower garden. Plans will be discussed in

May about a farewell dinner for Philip Von Lewinski,

an exchange student from Germany, who has been living

with Pastor Andy & Brenda DeGolyer. Philip leaves for home

on June 1. Sandi Kimbell brought the traveling basket and it

was won by Reatha Neemann. Mary Margaret gave

devotions and the meeting was adjourned.

Did you know if the use of cloth diapers increased by just

1%, the reduction in waste would be about the same as

14,200 households not producing any garbage for

an entire year?

NEWS FROM 100 YEARS AGO

mailbox_3

Friday, 4-28-1911, The Otoe Union:

The huge fire that nearly destroyed Unadilla's business

block occurred. As a result of that fire, an ordinance was passed

that requires all buildings erected in Block 39 to be

constructed of brick. The Bank building and the

Duncan building were the only business' left.
