Isn't this a crazy weather year? There are so many flood photos
circulating on the internet, it's hard to look at them all.
When the news reported that 155,000 cubic gallons of water a second
is being released from Gavin's Point Dam, it was hard to visualize,
but think of it as 155,000 basketballs a second...
well, you get the picture.

Friday, 6-23-1911, The Otoe Union:
Pastures were drying up causing "quite a falling off in the
cream business." Henry Riley of Douglas was the new manager
of the Unadilla Telephone Company. Nellie Farnsworth and
Ray C. Parker were married in Lincoln. Voorhees Edwards,
Palmyra, visited his sister, Mrs. Walter Besch.

Cass County Fair 2011 Schedule

The Otoe County Genealogical Society will hold its next meeting on July 14, 2011
at the Morton-James Library in Nebraska City. It will feature a program on
"Google Earth for Genealogy". This webinar is presented by Lisa Louise Cooke.
It includes information on how to utilize "Google Earth" and its historical map
collection to assist a researcher in locating their family's ancestral homestead
or place of residence. The meeting starts at 7:00 pm. Guests are welcome.
