Alberta Block reports on the Library Board meeting held on 7-20-11 with Peggy Leefers, Lois Ebert, Jean Lucas, Gera Stilwell, and Alberta Block present. Peggy reported the balance in the treasury is $2353.02, of which $700.00 is set aside from a memorial gift for the purpose of adding shelving. Thank you notes and donation receipts for tax purposes have been mailed for the recent book donations. Books are being culled for donation to the People's City Mission; they have a great need for books. It was decided to change the Saturday hours to 9-11 am. Later in the season we will discuss which hours seem to work best. A new addition is "A Stolen Life" by Jaycee Dugard. A much needed new shelving unit is being built by Tom Block. Doni Stoner presented a fun story time on Saturday, and we look forward to the next one which will be in September. The library has some books on CD and they are on the shelpf above the computers. After the meeting adjourned, there followed a couple hours of library work by the board.

Don't forget to stop by the Legion/VFW Bingo Stand at the Otoe County Fair. (This year it will be in the Fair Center.) Bob Wilhelm has been busy stocking the "prize cupboard". All proceeds go to Youth Programs.

Bob & Barb Wilhelm had a wonderful trip to western Nebraska over the weekend. They were in search of cooler weather - didn't find any! Barb got "Chimney Rock" and "Carhenge" crossed off her "bucket list" and Bob got to spend some quality time with Barb! (more photos next week)

FIDDLE WORKSHOP
A Twin Fiddling Workshop will be held on Saturday, August 6, from 1-3 pm, for fiddlers who want to learn to play nicely together with their fellow fiddlers. Any age or experience level are welcome. Pre-registration is required, and enrollment is limited. The fee is $20.00 per fiddler.

The Lofte Community Theatre presents "Annie"
Ellie Swanson stars in the title role; Kris Raasch portrays the cantankerous Oliver Warbucks; and Anna Stroebel plays the canniving Miss Hannigan. The production is directed by Kevin Colbert.
Performance dates are: July 22-24, 28-31, and August 4-7.
