Barb Wilhelm attended the Community Welcome for American Legion

National Vice-Commander, James H. Hales, Jr. It was held at the "Green

Room". He had never been to Nebraska before and was impressed with our

state. He was a charming and knowledgeable speaker and we were sorry

there wasn't a bigger turnout for him.

Norm & Rose Ann Duncan and Cindy Bassinger had dinner at St. Joe

last weekend at the Bob Evans Restaurant. They checked out the roads on

both sides of the river. Norm reports there was a lot of one land traffic,

but it was a beautiful day for a drive.

Fire Chief Steve Vodicka would like to thank everyone that came to the

pancake feed on Oct. 30th.

You may remember a month or so ago, Norm Duncan encountered an

injured owl. Well, last week that owl and another one who was paired up

with it, were returned to Morm. He and Rose Ann, after a near escape,

got them out to Roland Rodaway's for the release; the potential escapee

riding in the front seat of Norm's pickup. He and Rose Ann coaxed them

out and eventually they flew away,  but not before Roland got some

photos. Thanks to all involved for this act of kindness.

The Creamed Chicken Dinner held yesterday at the Christian

Church was well attended. The food was great, as usual!

*****

The 2nd & 3rd Grade Music program drew a large crowd last Thursday,

November 3rd. We enjoyed all the songs, but especially

"Dem Whacky Bones".

*****

Do you have a loved one at Good Samaritan and just can't get to see

them as often as you'd like? Now they have a program where you can

email them and send them photos. The residents can even send you a

reply! If you'd like to know more, contact

Activity Director Jenny Meyer.
