Some news from the Hickman family: "We went Christmas shopping
last Friday at the Tian Yi Market. What an experience! We took the subway
with some Embassy folks to "learn" how. There were workers on the
platforms packing people in, I know as this woman had her hands on
my back pushing as hard as she could! She did manage to get me in.
You didn't need to hold on because you couldn't have fallen down if you
would have wanted to. We were packed in like cordwood. (We took a taxi
home.) Once at the Market, we found Nebraska in Beijing; cows and
pigs dressed for Christman. Say hey to Unadilla for us."

The Rural Schools project continues to spread. One of the recent
sign postings was at Camp Creek School, Dist #54, which was in
existence from 1857-1954.

Wednesday Bob Wilhelm attended the 4th grade Veteran's
Program at the High School accompanied by Maisie Hillman.
It was a wonderful event with many veterans attending. How lucky
we are to live in such a patriotic community.

***
The Parade of Veterans was a huge success again this year, with 300
students making a visit, learning about veterans from all wars,
interacting with Civil War reenactors, learning how to fold and
respect the flag, and many other activities. Thanks to all who made
this display possible.

Friday evening, Madison Hillman, big sister, and friends, celebrated
her 8th birthday with a trip to the Pizza Machine in Omaha. The "Frog"
ride and the bumper cars were a big hit!
***
Saturday Bob & Barb Wilhelm met the Scott Hitzemann family in
Des Moines to celebrate Brody's 3rd birthday.
They met at Texas Roadhouse and Brody loved his ride in the saddle
and saying "yehaw". Big brother Ani thought it was pretty neat, too.

Saturday evening, about 100 family and friends surprised Sandi
Kimbell for her 65th birthday.

She really was surprised!

Sunday the annual Fisk reunion was held at the Community Center
with 49 descendants of Carl and Mary Fisk attending. Omaha, Lincoln,
Weston, Aurora, Greenwood, Martell, Syracuse, and Unadilla were
represented. It's always good to catch up with the cousins, and the
kids had a great time.

There has been some changes to the policies for the Community
Center. The fees for a family are still $75 and $25 for a single family.
However, we are now charging $10.00 an hour for the gym time for
team practices. Also, buying a single card does not enable you to bring
in 10 other people with you to play for two hours. Each adult over 18
must buy their own card, unless affiliated with a specific coach and
in that case, practice time must be scheduled with the Village Office.
Come on people, what else can you do for $25 a year? If you don't
want to lose your privileges and want to see these low prices continue,
please act responsibly. And an additional reminder: Children under 18
are not allowed to use the center without adult supervision. Continued
misuse of cards will cause the card to be invalidated with no refund.

Here's hoping you have a great Thanksgiving holiday, with lots to eat,
and plenty of time to spend with family and friends. If you're
traveling, be safe!
