Dan & Babette McWilliams are proud grandparents of twin boys. On
December 12th, Levi Jeffrey & Dylan Andrew were born to Jamie & Zach
Woods of Syracuse at St. Elizabeth hospital in Lincoln. They were
moved to Children's Hospital in Omaha that evening, and each have
had heart procedure surgeries. Their story can be found on
www.caringbridge.org, click on "levidylanwoods". Two little
miracles blessed their families this holday season.

Our friend, Viola Wachter, shared this obituary with us:
Fern I. Rodebaugh, 91, died Nov. 29, 2011, at Derby, Kansas.
She was born June 24, 1920, at Unadilla, NE, the daughter of
Jesse and Sabra (French) Van Horn. Fern graduated from Burr
High School. She was a retired worker in the Dietary Dept at Larned
State Hospital. She belonged to Burr Methodist Church, Burr, NE,
and American Legion Auxiliary, Burdett, KS. She married Wilbur
Neal Rodebaugh, he died in 1965. Fern was a longtime resident
of Burdett, before moving to Derby to be near family. Survivors
include: son Larry and wife Patricia, of Foley, MO; daughters
Carol Burket of Derby, and Sharon Beach and husband Ron of
Hutchinson; three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Fern was preceded in death by a son Donald Lee Rodebaugh,
a son-in-law, Charles Burket, two brothers, Emmett and Allen
Van Horn, and a sister, Vera Wachter.
Funeral services were at Faith Fellowship Church, rural Burdett,
with burial at Browns Grove Cemetery, Burdett.

Friday, 1-5-1912, The Otoe Union:
Charles Kramers' had a 12 lb baby boy; a son was born to
Nicolas Schreiners'. Mrs. O.L. Van Meter and Rosa Doyle enjoyed
a sleigh ride to Syracuse. The floor at the Christian Church
caught on fire during Sunday School.

Otoe County Genealogical Society will host its January 12th
meeting at 7 pm at Linden View Assisted Living, 1720 Linden Street,
Syracuse. This will be a Society planning meeting to schedule
activities for 2012. If you are interested in researching your
family's history or would like to assist with community-based
