Matt & Mike Hickman on the Great Wall
"Hello Unadilla! Mike, Matt, and I went to the Mutianyu section of the
Great Wall a few weeks ago. This section of the Wall was first restored
in the early Ming Dynasty, 1368-1644, on the remnants of a Wall originally
built in the Northern Qi Dynasty, 550-577. The most recent renovation of
the Wall at Mutianyu took place from 1982-1986, at the direction of the
Beijing government. Rather than a defensive fortification, the Mutianyu
Great Wall Park has been designated a national tourist attraction, where
it attracts thousands of visitors each year. We took a cable car ride up
the side of the mountain, and then climbed up on the Wall itself.
It was fascinating! -Becky Hickman"

Did you know recycling just one aluminum can saves enough energy
to run a computer or television set for 3 hours? It takes 95% less energy
to make a new aluminum can from a recycled can.

NEWS FROM 100 YEARS AGO

Friday, 3-1-1912, The Otoe Union:
There was no train because of the snow, reportedly the deepest since
1881. Emerson Van Horn and Beatrice Stedman were married in
Omaha. Anna Rootham died and was buried at Unadilla. A daughter
was born to Lon Farnsworth's. Mrs. M.R. Stoner shared instructions
for knitted baby booties. (If you want to try them, let me know and
I'll make you a copy!)
