Teresa Liesemeyer, Unadilla, recently received a late surprise birthday present when her daughter-in-law and grandsons, Lori, Kody, Logan, and Mitchell Berner, from Quantico, VA, walked in the door. They had kept their arrival secret from everyone and Teresa & Bruce were totally shocked to see them. They enjoyed the week in Nebraska before returning home to Virginia

Bob & Barb Wilhelm took Ruth Wilhelm to Lincoln Sunday where they met Dave & Nola Johnson to celebrate Ruth's 91st birthday. Ruth also celebrated with Bev Wilhelm, Barb Wilhelm, and Lynn Wilhelm last Thursday, when they had a wonderful lunch at "Poppies".

Condolences to the family and friends of Lyle Rodaway, who passed away April 21st.

The Third Annual Schoolhouse Reunion was held Saturday, April 21st, at Harmony School south of Nebraska City. Unadilla resident, Gera Stilwell, won the spelling bee. A good time was had by all! (Thanks to Mary Hanke for the photos.)

Alright, Class of 1967, the 45th reunion will be held Sunday, June 3rd, at the Duncan Building in Unadilla, 4:00 p.m. Be there or be square!

School is just about out - don't forget to send in your Box Tops for Education before the year is over. You can leave them at the Village Office also.

Clean up day will be the first Saturday in June, with roll-off dumpsters at the park from 9 - Noon.

Did you know if the use of cloth diapers increased by just 1%, the reduction in waste would be about the same as 14,200 households not producing any garbage for an entire year?

Friday, 4-26-1912, The Otoe Union:

Miss Lucille Yeigh, daughter of Frank Yeigh, and Prof. Charles Van Fleet, head of Unadilla High School, were married by Rev. Kieser of the M.E. Church. Grayce Hinkle, teacher at Dist #25, closed the school year with a picnic. It was noted that the captain of the Titanic was "speed mad", resulting in the loss of so many lives. The editor then went on to compare him to the drivers in Unadilla, who "exceed the speed limit where little children and helpless women pass." (Seriously?)

I also know that, although the course will be monitored, there could be traffic on the course route; therefore, I assume the risk of running in traffic and on uneven road conditions. I also assume there are other risks associated with running this event. I understand I am solely responsible for my own safety while traveling to and from and participating in this event.

2012 Unadilla 5K Fun Run & Walk

Saturday, June 23rd

 

Race information

Check-in and registration: 6:30 to 6:55 a.m. at the Duncan Building, Main Street Unadilla.

Race start: 7:00 a.m. for both runners and walkers; line up in front of Post Office.

Race will be held rain or shine; only in the event of severe weather will the event be postponed or cancelled.

Registration Information

Early registration deadline is June 8, 2012. Early registration ensures a t-shirt on race day. There is no guarantee t-shirts will be available if registering on the day of race.

Registration fees: (No Refunds)

Adult (aged 18 and over) 5K early registration- with t-shirt (postmarked by June 10th) - $15.00. Registration fee day of the race: $20.00.

Youth (aged 13 to 17) 5K early registration – with t-shirt (postmarked by June 10th): $10.00. Registration fee day of race: $15.00.

Children (aged 12 and under) early registration – with t-shirt (postmarked before June 10th): $7.00. Day of race: $5.00

Anyone (any age) who wants to walk or run without receiving a t-shirt: $5.00

Checks can be made to “Unadilla Fun Run”.

Unregistered runners participate at their own risk and will not be timed or receive any race prizes or t-shirts.

Awards will be presented to the top 3 adult male, 3 adult female, and 3 youth finishers at the conclusion of the race at the Park.

All proceeds go directly to Unadilla Foundation
