OCGS members Bob & Barb Wilhelm, with help from Madison Hillman, erected the sign for District #62, Fairview School, on the property owned by Joe Dowding. Fairview was located 4 miles west and 1 1/8 miles south of Unadilla. Bob, his brothers, their father Vernon, and all Vernon's brothers and sisters, attended the school.

Plans are being finalized for Unadilla Day, 6-23-2012. Come to the meeting on May 9th at the Library, 7:30 pm, if you would like to help, share infor, or are just curious as to what's happening.

Dave Finigan has sent us a wonderful CD with photos from the 1880's through the 1950's. It is now available at the Unadilla Library and the Museum of Memories.

The "prairie roses" along many roadsides are now blooming and so plentiful!

Friday, 5-3-1912, The Otoe Union:

A shower was held for Elsa Cowel, who was to marry Fred G. Young, the B&M depot agent at Dunbar. The Ladies Aid Society was making sunbonnets, which could be purchased at Horstman & Parker's. Mr. Gerstenkorn rented his 320 acres to Mr. Lemke and would move his family to Colorado for health reasons. W.F. Hair installed an outside storage tank for gasoline. B. Wilson and Ella Massie were married in Lincoln, and would take up housekeeping on a farm NW of Unadilla. G.A.R. member, Thomas Patton, died, and was buried at Elmwood.

I know that running is a potentially hazardous activity. I should not enter and run unless I am medically able and properly trained. I also know that, although the course will be monitored, there could be traffic on the course route; therefore, I assume the risk of running in traffic and on uneven road conditions. I also assume there are other risks associated with running this event. I understand I am solely responsible for my own safety while traveling to and from and participating in this event.

2012 Unadilla 5K Fun Run & Walk

Saturday, June 23rd

Race information

Check-in and registration: 6:30 to 6:55 a.m. at the Duncan Building, Main Street Unadilla.

Race start: 7:00 a.m. for both runners and walkers; line up in front of Post Office.

Race will be held rain or shine; only in the event of severe weather will the event be postponed or cancelled.

Registration Information

Early registration deadline is June 8, 2012. Early registration ensures a t-shirt on race day. There is no guarantee t-shirts will be available if registering on the day of race.

Registration fees: (No Refunds)

Adult (aged 18 and over) 5K early registration- with t-shirt (postmarked by June 10th) - $15.00. Registration fee day of the race: $20.00.

Youth (aged 13 to 17) 5K early registration – with t-shirt (postmarked by June 10th): $10.00. Registration fee day of race: $15.00.

Children (aged 12 and under) early registration – with t-shirt (postmarked before June 10th): $7.00. Day of race: $5.00

Anyone (any age) who wants to walk or run without receiving a t-shirt: $5.00

Checks can be made to “Unadilla Fun Run”.

Unregistered runners participate at their own risk and will not be timed or receive any race prizes or t-shirts.

Awards will be presented to the top 3 adult male, 3 adult female, and 3 youth finishers at the conclusion of the race at the Park.

All proceeds go directly to Unadilla Foundation
