It was with a big sigh of relief along with many other emotions that Brianne and Charlie Wilhelm welcomed husband/daddy Marcus back home Friday afternoon at the Grand Island Airport, his time in Afghanistan finally over. There were many other family members present, each of us needing to see him with our own eyes, even though there were lots of tears in those eyes. Marcus, we are all SO glad you are back in Nebraska!

Haleigh Werner would like to announce the arrival of her little brother, Spencer Allan Werner. Spencer was born to Daryl and Rachel Werner on May 11, 2012. He was 9 lbs 1 oz and 21 inches long. Grandparents are Dennis & Janell Werner, Syracuse, and Rev. Lynn & Donna Spencer, Meade, Kansas. Great-grandparents are Kenneth & Mildred Werner, Syracuse, and Albert Spencer, Westmoreland, Kansas. Congratulations!

Deanna Lamb, Janet Twohig, May Lamb

 

Janet Twohig and May Lamb spent a week in Carmichael, California, with Deanna Lamb. In that week they saw the movie "Best Exotic Hotel"; had lunch at the High Hand Nursery; visited Davis Farmer's Market; went on the Capay Valley Garden Tour; had breakfast at Mirabelle's; ate lunch at Tower Cafe; ate dinner at Forno Classico; went shopping in Old Town; shopping at Green Acres Nursery; and had manicures and pedicures. Deanna's son, Graham Snyder, grilled salmon one night for dinner. May gets around very well at age 92!

Sunday, May 27, the family of Loy Boardman helped him celebrate his 85th birthday.  All of his living siblings attended as well as his children, Barb Wilhelm, Mary Hanke, and Larry Boardman, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and sister-in-law.

John Miller & Cordella Deibel were married May 22. A.H. Soflin and John Judkins went to Craig, Missouri to build an elevator. Taylor Graham purchased a vacuum cistern cleaner and custormers were lining up for the service. Charles Howe, manager of the Duff elevator, married Sarah E. Culwell of Denver.

I know that running is a potentially hazardous activity. I should not enter and run unless I am medically able and properly trained. I also know that, although the course will be monitored, there could be traffic on the course route; therefore, I assume the risk of running in traffic and on uneven road conditions. I also assume there are other risks associated with running this event. I understand I am solely responsible for my own safety while traveling to and from and participating in this event.

I hereby declare myself in good physical condition and able to run or walk in the Unadilla 5K Fun Run and Walk. 2012 Unadilla 5K Fun Run & Walk

Saturday, June 23rd

Race information

Check-in and registration: 6:30 to 6:55 a.m. at the Duncan Building, Main Street Unadilla.

Race start: 7:00 a.m. for both runners and walkers; line up in front of Post Office.

Race will be held rain or shine; only in the event of severe weather will the event be postponed or cancelled.

Registration Information

Early registration deadline is June 8, 2012. Early registration ensures a t-shirt on race day. There is no guarantee t-shirts will be available if registering on the day of race.

Registration fees: (No Refunds)

Adult (aged 18 and over) 5K early registration- with t-shirt (postmarked by June 10th) - $15.00. Registration fee day of the race: $20.00.

Youth (aged 13 to 17) 5K early registration – with t-shirt (postmarked by June 10th): $10.00. Registration fee day of race: $15.00.

Children (aged 12 and under) early registration – with t-shirt (postmarked before June 10th): $7.00. Day of race: $5.00

Anyone (any age) who wants to walk or run without receiving a t-shirt: $5.00

Checks can be made to “Unadilla Fun Run”.

Unregistered runners participate at their own risk and will not be timed or receive any race prizes or t-shirts.

Awards will be presented to the top 3 adult male, 3 adult female, and 3 youth finishers at the conclusion of the race at the Park.
