"Due to the hot weather along with the below average rainfall,

we are requesting that you ELIMINATE water usage on LAWN

WATERING. Please LIMIT other OUTDOOR USE! These steps will

help us to provide you with water throughout the summer. This is our

first step to maintain our drinking water. PLEASE HONOR OUR REQUEST."

Daniel Vodicka has been chosen one of 10 people to receive

free Lasik eye surgery from Sutton Linder & Sutton

"Vote for the Gift of Sight" contest. To narrow down the

contestants, they require that people vote on the top 10,

those with the most votes getting the surgery.

Voting is from July 16 - 31, on either the

Sutton Linder & Sutton website or on Facebook.

PLEASE vote for him - he needs all the votes he can get!

Saturday, July 14th, residents north of Unadilla woke up to what they thought

was the sun rising, but it was the old elevator south of Amy Sadle's art studio

burning, in Syracuse. The overhead powerlines melted and so did several

trash cans in the alley.

When viewing the pile of rubble, which is considerable, it was still smoking

and there were open flames, early Saturday evening. One could see that

small fires had erupted everywhere, and the wind blew embers to a garage

north of the Bank, which will be a total loss. How lucky that no one was hurt

and that the buildings damaged can be repaired.

In driving around Syracuse, we also noticed the old Bingo stand

at the south park had been torn down.

Viola Gartner celebrated her 90th birthday with an open house at
