Another County Fair is in the book. It seemed to be bigger and better than
last year. We especially enjoyed the tractor contest with two Unadilla
"boys" taking home trophies. Bob Bryan won "Most Original" with his 1950
Allis Chalmers CA, and Bob Wilhelm "Age Group 22-64" with his 1952
8N Ford, purchased new by his father Vernon, and totally restored
by Chuck Bjork.

There seemed to be an explosion of agriculture related displays - after
all, isn't that what the fair is supposed to be? We did hear a few
complaints about the livestock sale being changed to Wednesday
night and the kids starting school the next morning. Bob Wilhelm
reports a good year for the Bingo stand, getting rid of all the prizes.
See you next year!

It's official! Michele Hillman and Matt Capps were married August
18th at the Harlan County Reservoir.
"Reverend" Bob Wilhelm, Michele's father, performed the
ceremony aboard a boat in the middle of the lake.
Also present were: Maisie and Madison Hillman, Barb Wilhelm,
and Leonard & Andrea Capps. The day started out with thunder and
rain, but ended up being a beautiful day. They managed to get in a
short visit with cousin Jeff after the "rehearsal" dinner at Simi's in
Alma, Nebraska Friday evening.

Doesn't these crisp mornings make you think of fall? If you're
beginning your fall cleaning and don't want to bother with a garage sale,
please remember the Thrift Shop in Syracuse takes donations
Monday, Friday, and Saturday mornings from 9 - Noon. In the long
run, you'll be helping yourself and your family.
