Countryside Bank is again sponsoring a food drive for the local

Food Pantries. Donations of food items or money can be left at

all three locations: Unadilla, Syracuse, and Burr, anytime during

normal business hours.

generous donation to the Unadilla Cemetery.

Library news: Work times have been set for the following days:

11-26, 12-4, 12-11, and 12-18.

All are Tuesday mornings from 9-11 a.m. Anyone who can come

is most welcome and need not commit to all sessions. Come as you

are and help process the new additions to our Community

Library. Any questions? Call Peggy at 402-828-5725.

There will be a special library board meeting in the library

Thursday, December 6th, at 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

Agenda items include book additions, book processing, work days,

and library space arrangement and shelving needs. Special guests

will be Darin and Shane Ziemann, and will be honoring their parents

with the gift of their extensive personal library. Come join us!

Thanksgiving Day at the home of Mary Hanke in Omaha.

Matt & Michele Capps, and Maisie & Madison Hillman,

also attended. It was a good reunion for the little second cousins,

and the food was terrific, as usual!

Santa's mailbox is in place by the Post Office for letters to

Santa. Children, be sure to include your complete name and

address on your letter and put the letter into the mailbox

before Monday, December 17th. Santa needs them in time to

write letters back to you.

NEWS FROM 100 YEARS AGO

Friday, 11-19-1912, The Otoe Union:

The Christian Church would be getting a resident minister. Readers of

the paper were asked to call at the Bank and renew their

subscriptions. The house on the Dan McSwan place, 6 miles

south of town, burned to the ground along with all the contents.

The John Lunsford family, who was living there, got out safely,

with the father being burned severely rescuing his

daughters.
